WELCOME
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality globally. Using multiple model organisms, such as zebrafish, danionella, and mice, we investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms of cardiovascular development, homeostasis, and regeneration. We aim to provide fundamental insights that could help in the development of novel therapeutic approaches to treat common cardiovascular conditions, including atherosclerosis and heart failure. Currently, we are focusing on the following areas:
- Cardiomyocyte dedifferentiation and proliferation mechanisms
- Cardiomyocyte renewal therapy
- Live imaging of tissue homeostasis and regeneration
